Career:
Born in 1914. he started to learn making wazao under Tosaku the 4th. After 8 years of training, he went back to his hometown Kawaguchi, he starts to run his own business with his younger brother. Soon after WWII ended, "Bamboo Industry Co., Ltd." was established in 1945. The two brothers were actively known as Tomasa.
Story:
Both brothers are known as Tomasa but they can be identified by the iron-brand they use. The older brother has a square frame or no frame where as the younger brother has an oval frame or a diamond frame. The older one didn't take personal orders but concentrated on mass production of high-end rods enabling him to succeed in business with big players. He made Yamame-rods in the spring, Ayu-rods before the raining season, Haze-rods in the summer and Ishidai-rods when fall begins, adjusting to each season. The younger one made small rods for Funa, Tanago, Yamabe, Yamame and Haze and made many rods for dpartment store in Tokyo. He earned expertise in one-and-only high-end rods.
