WAZAO-IPPON<Bamboo Lure Rod - A fusion of tradition and innovation>
An Inheritor that blends into the mountain stream. Each bamboo rod is handcrafted by artisans using materials sourced in Japan. It stands out alongside the trout that emerge from the water's edge. It represents a new form of luxury, integrating timeless craftsmanship with the practical performance of lure fishing at a high level.

<World's first: Wazao, a Japanese fishing rod specifically designed for mountain stream lures>
The culmination of five years of planning and meticulous field testing, the Inheritor is highly acclaimed as the world's only bamboo rod designed specifically for mountain stream lures. It innovatively combines traditional Japanese rod techniques with the demands of modern fishing. Each rod is made to order in small batches, with skilled craftsmen spending approximately two to three months crafting each one. It embodies new value at the intersection of technology, art, and philosophy. In an age dominated by mass-produced graphite and glass rods, the Inheritor stands out as a "catalyst" that allows us to rediscover the essence of fishing.

<Limitation and Model>
We limit the number of rods produced each year to preserve their rarity and the value of their craftsmanship. Two models are available: baitcasting and spinning, to suit your style.
• Bait : 3-piece bamboo blank with custom brass ferrule. Works well with your existing grip/reel seat.
• Spinning : Integrated cork grip.
• Common specifications : 4ft/5ft (3-piece, UL action). Ideal for tight streams.
The recommended lure is approximately 1-3g (actual test measurements were up to approximately 7g). It is aimed at trout up to about 30cm. Despite its delicate design, it is surprisingly strong, as evidenced by the fact that it has caught trout up to 60cm in actual fishing. It combines a sharp casting feel with the delicate bending of the bamboo, allowing you to accurately cast lightweight minnows and spoons while also being able to easily take on unexpectedly large fish. This is modern tackle with the soul of the past.

<Price (by material, tax included)>
• Hotei : 330,000 yen
• Yadake: 330,000 yen
The premium price is commensurate with the rarity of the material and the high level of finish. The price reflects not only the materials and labor involved, but also the lasting value of the craft. For many owners, the Inheritor is a "usable work of art" - a piece to last a lifetime - and not just another fishing tackle.

<Craftsmanship - a level of perfection on a par with fine arts and crafts>
Lacquered bamboo skin, brass ferrules, and a classic grip. The Inheritor is meticulously crafted using only carefully selected domestic bamboo, silk thread, and genuine lacquer, achieving the same luster and texture as traditional crafts.
To select the material, craftsmen travel into the mountains of Japan and examine each piece of raw bamboo one by one. They assess the thickness, elasticity, and "spirit of the bamboo" and only use the most suitable material. The selected bamboo is dried naturally for a long period of time to stabilize it even inside.
Once preparation is complete, the instrument is straightened by firing (straightening) and, if necessary, the tip is glued together to form the ideal taper. The brass ferrule is then hand-fitted and finished with multiple coats of genuine lacquer and polished. The traditional coating, the same as that used for high-quality lacquerware, gives the instrument a deep luster and natural water resistance, enhancing its strength and beauty.
Bamboo is a living material. Each rod has its own unique knots, grain, and slight bends, making each rod unique—it's truly one of a kind.
There are few makers in the world who can consistently reproduce this level of quality. This is not an assembly line process, but true Japanese rod making, where the "hand" is present in every step. The smoothness of the lacquer the moment you touch it, the precision of the winding line, the appearance of the knots, the center of gravity in the hand - here you can experience something that you cannot get with mass-produced carbon.

<Tradition x On-site performance>
While a traditional craft, Inheritor is thoroughly designed for field use. Through field testing, including on Hokkaido's major rivers, we sought the optimum solution for the sharpness and flexibility of bamboo required for a lightweight lure. It accurately casts 1-3g minnows/spoons over short distances, and the tip responds to delicate lures. The body and butt wrap around the lure's charge, creating a beautiful arc when hooked.
The inherent flexibility and tenacity of bamboo offer advantages not found in high-tech materials. Its resilience allows it to bend deeply and resist breakage, its tempo absorbs shocks, and its sensitivity to vivid bites and head movements. Its parabolic response reduces hook-outs, making it safe to use even with light line. With proper handling, it's durable enough to last for generations, and all it takes is common sense, such as avoiding point loads (such as bending only the tip too hard).
The metal fittings also bridge the gap between the past and the present. The brass ferrules on the baitcasting reels acquire a patina with use, while the cork grips on the spinning reels are light and classic. The small-diameter guides seamlessly match current lines and reels. These reels combine the practicality of modern tools with timeless elegance.

The luxury of not catching anything
The essence of Inheritor is the experience that goes beyond specs. The goal is not efficiency or yield, but fishing that allows you to enjoy the process.
"It's okay if you don't catch anything" - this motto makes every moment of casting, waiting, and hooking more intense than the end result. The sunlight filtering through the leaves on the glossy lacquer, the sound of the bamboo cutting through the air as you cast, the subtle vibration of the line... fishing becomes poetry. It brings back a dialogue with nature that is difficult to achieve with modern tackle that is extremely fast and labor-saving.
It's similar to the sensibility one has when appreciating a classic car or a mechanical watch. It's not about "speed" but "feel." The "intentional inconvenience" that frees the angler from "excessive control" and increases the value of each fish caught brings fishing back to its roots.

<Natural materials and sustainability>
In an age where petroleum-derived synthetic materials are the norm, Inheritor is made almost entirely from renewable natural materials. The main material is bamboo, the finish is genuine lacquer, and metal fittings are minimal. Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants on Earth, and has a smaller environmental impact than carbon or glass manufacturing. This approach shifts away from energy-intensive processes such as weaving and high-temperature curing, and paints that rely on organic solvents, and instead shapes natural materials by hand.
Even if they do end, bamboo poles will return to nature. This is in stark contrast to broken carbon, which ends up in landfills. Genuine lacquer is a natural polymer derived from tree sap, and is a material that is part of the "cycle between people and nature" just like ancient vessels. Inheritor presents the coexistence of eco-friendliness and luxury as a visible texture.
Furthermore, choosing such tools is an act of supporting the lineage of handicrafts that are in danger of disappearing. A community that connects users and makers through tools - the very culture that once lived in Japan. The tool you purchase even carries with it the potential for cultural sustainability.

<The joy of ownership - support, community, inheritance>
A purchase is the beginning of a relationship. We offer three years of free, unlimited maintenance (off-season inspections, reheating as needed, polishing the lacquer, and handling in the unlikely event of damage) to eliminate any worries when using the rod. This support, rare among mass-produced rods, is our promise to make the Inheritor your "lifelong companion."
The brand values its circle of like-minded enthusiasts through publications in cultural magazines, online courses/Q&As for owners, and physical meetups. One of its appeals is that it goes beyond mere ownership and gives the feeling of being part of a story.
A well-crafted bamboo pole is a "work of art that can be used." It looks great on display, and when you hold it, it touches your heart with the "atmosphere of the mountains." The Inheritor has the dignity to be passed down through the family. As the name suggests, you will become the "successor" of tradition.

<Make fishing deeper and richer>
The Inheritor is more than just a tool - it's a rod that blends art, culture, sustainability, and practicality. It's beautiful to fish in small streams and tells a story with every cast. It's a quiet protest against the "make and throw away" culture, and it brings back "fishing for fishing's sake."
The joy of standing in the stream with "the crystallization of skill, art, and thought" in hand. When you see the bamboo pulsating with life and the fish you hook form a perfect arc, you will understand why this is called literary fishing.
Cast with tradition and become part of the story. The world's only mountain stream lure rod, the Inheritor, is waiting for you to write the next chapter.
